Tono City (famous for the "Tono Story" written by the folklore scholar Kunio Yanagida) and JFP Inc. (based in Morioka, northern Japan, President and CEO: Norihiro Urushibara, Capitalization: 10 million Yen) announce the release of two CD-ROM titles: "365 Days in Tono" and "The Colors and Seasons of Tono".

There are many examples of CD-ROMs made by local areas for promotion purposes but they have all involved the copyright being held solely by the promoting area, and as a result, sales have been almost non-existent.

These CD-ROM titles have been developed under the joint copyright of Tono City and JFP Inc. and represent the future path of multimedia promotion projects for local areas: allowing for the marketing expertise of JFP Inc. to help push sales.

"365 Days in Tono" (Win/Mac hybrid CD-ROM priced at 5,000yen) is based on the idea of a "tear-off" calendar and introduces the culture and scenery of Tono on a day by day basis. By spending just a little time each day we hope that you can come to feel a natural affection for Tono. This fun title includes panoramic movies, old folk tales and impressions of the modern-day Tono.

"The Colors and Seasons of Tono" (Win/Mac hybrid CD-ROM priced at 3,000yen) brings together a collection of prize-winning photographs from a contest sponsored by Tono City. From the beautiful scenery to the people of Tono there are 124 stunning pictures for you to enjoy and appreciate the four seasons of Tono.
